Chainsaw Man Page

The setting mixes ‘90s Japan poverty, Lovecraftian devil designs, and bureaucratic horror (the “gun devil” is a geopolitical trauma). Fujimoto’s art in the manga is expressive – messy where it needs to be, cinematic in action. The anime (MAPPA) amplifies the filmic quality: fight choreography is fluid, and the sound design (revving chainsaws, eerie silences) is masterful.

Denji is not a chosen one; he is a nobody. His dreams are pitifully small: to eat good food, to have a bed, and maybe to touch a woman’s chest.
