The album saw Tesfaye stepping out of his comfort zone of atmospheric, minimalist R&B and fully embracing the new wave of electronic music. The title track, and lead single, "Starboy," featured the enigmatic French electronic duo Daft Punk. This collaboration was a stroke of genius.
