The hero, or anti-hero, is (played by Jeremy Renner). He replaces a team leader who was killed in the opening scene. Unlike his cautious teammates—Sergeant JT Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty)—James is a thrill-seeking adrenaline junkie. He disassembles bombs by hand, removing his protective suit because "the suit makes you slow."
