Unlike Bond or Bourne, the Kingsman script has no tolerance for the status quo. The first act opens with a dizzying chase sequence involving Eggsy’s taxi and Charlie’s robotic arm. But the real gut-punch comes on Page 25: Poppy Adams’ missiles destroy the Kingsman manor. The script brutally kills off most of the supporting cast (including Roxy and Arthur) off-screen or with cold efficiency. This isn’t shocking for shock’s sake; it’s the script’s thesis statement: Gentleman spycraft is obsolete in the modern world.
