At the heart of is a deceptively simple premise. The protagonist, Mun (played with stunning vulnerability by Lee Sin-je, also known as Angelica Lee), has lived in a world of darkness since the age of two. She is blind, independent, and resigned to her shadowed existence. That is, until a corneal transplant promises to restore her sight.

Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 3.5 out of 4 stars, praising its " creepy and suspenseful" atmosphere and the performances of the cast. Similarly, Todd McCarthy of Variety noted that the film was " visually arresting and aurally stimulating", and that it had a " hypnotic and unsettling" quality that would appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. the eyes 2002
