The film follows (Dharmendra), a poor woodcutter living in a small town. Unlike his greedy brother Kasim (played by Ranjeet), Alibaba is virtuous and kind-hearted. One day, while working in the forest, he stumbles upon a secret cave. He overhears the terrifying chief of the forty thieves, Abu Hasan (played with menacing intensity by Prem Chopra), utter the magical words: "Khul Ja Sim Sim" (Open Sesame).
