Iden-Lab recently announced the firmware update (Q4 2024). This update adds native support for IEC 61850-9-2 Sampled Values (SV) over fiber optic. This means the iden-lab-rss-28 can now directly inject "digital" current and voltage values into a process bus network without DAC conversion, making it future-proof for fully digital substations.

After three or four 60A continuous tests, the unit cuts output and a fan runs at high speed for 10 minutes. Cause: You have exceeded the duty cycle. Fix: The RSS-28 is rated for 60A continuous, but "continuous" assumes ambient temperature of 25°C. In a hot lab (35°C+), reduce current to 50A or insert a 5-minute pause between high-current tests. Use the "Thermal Monitor" widget on the home screen to watch the IGBT temperature. iden-lab-rss-28
