High School Dxd Light Novel Review ((new))
The light novel suffers from light novel syndrome—over-explaining power levels, repetitive phrases (Issei’s internal monologue about breasts every five pages gets exhausting), and slow pacing in the middle volumes (Volume 13-15 are mostly short stories).

Skip the fan translations of the early volumes (they are rough). The official English translation by Yen Press is excellent and up to Volume 25 (the main story’s end). Read Volumes 1-2 to see if the tone clicks. If you reach the end of Volume 6 (the fight with the Holy Sword wielder) and aren’t hooked, the series isn’t for you.
