Busta’s rapid-fire chaos, Coolio’s smooth G-funk, LL’s braggadocio, Method Man’s gritty Wu-Tang flow, and B-Real’s nasal alto. "Hit 'Em High" is pure energy. Lyrically, it uses basketball as a metaphor for violence (it was the 90s, after all), and the beat is a frantic, horn-laced banger. For years, the was readily available on CD and cassette, but physical collectors noticed a glaring hole. For nearly two decades, the album was out of print on vinyl. Original pressings from 1996 became holy grails, selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay. The demand was so high that in 2021, Urban Outfitters (of all retailers) struck a deal to re-release the album on neon orange and purple splatter vinyl. It sold out within hours.
