The story behind Iron Sky is as compelling as the film itself. Director Timo Vuorensola was a member of the Finnish "Energia" film collective, known for their low-budget Star Trek parody Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning (2005). That film gained a massive online following, and Vuorensola decided to leverage that community for his next project.
