The DLC stages are excellent. The remastered "Stage 1" from R-Type II is a nostalgic masterpiece. The bad: To unlock the ships associated with these stages, you often have to buy the "Set" packs. Without the DLC, you are missing about 30% of the total ship roster.

Where R-Type Final 2 truly shines is its hangar. Players can unlock and pilot over , a staggering roster that includes every craft from previous R-Type games (including R-Type Leo and R-Type Command ) alongside brand-new designs.
The dance of positioning the Force to block incoming projectiles, charge the Wave Cannon, and navigate tight corridors filled with organic Bydo enemies creates a uniquely cerebral shooter experience.
